The best trophies of Balkan Chamois are on mountain Velebit - Northern part.
We exepct hunt it in the Velebit, in two types of hunting grounds.
Northern Velebit and Southern Velebit are high mountain hunting grounds where chamois are hunted above 1.000 m altitudes. The best period for hunting them in these hunting grounds is at the very beginning of a hunting season, i.e. in September and October. Weather conditions later decline the quality of a hunt in these areas.
In Sveti Juraj and Jablanac , the best open free range hunting grounds, we hunt on altitudes of 300-1.000 m, and we begin hunting intensely in the beginning of October, when temperatures and weather permit comfortable whole-day hunting sessions. In December, when strong winter bora winds blow for couple of days, we can offer a good shot to even less physically fit hunters. We hunt chamois combining stalking and searching, accompanied by two expert guides. With hunters in good physical condition, we try climbing above the chamois and then descending at them. This approach has given good results until now.
